Diseases with Similar Symptoms

One of the reasons why mesothelioma is difficult to diagnose is because its symptoms, and in particular the earliest ones, can be confused with symptoms of other more common diseases. Frequently the patients that have been diagnosed with a mesothelioma the first thing that you think is that you have a constipation, fever, bronchitis or pneumonia. Doctors will usually prescribe antibiotics or other treatments that do not work for mesothelioma. This delay in treatment allows the disease to expand.

The common cold

Cold symptoms start slowly with a sore throat and then with a runny nose that is clear and continuous. These symptoms are followed by sneezing, fatigue and a slight fever. Post nasal drip can make cough and sore throat worse. This cough is a clear symptom of the cold. Although it is usually not something severe, the cough usually lasts no more than two weeks and will always be worse in those people who have asthma or other diseases related to the lung. The constipated can sometimes be accompanied by infections, whose symptoms are a worsening cough and sputum with dark mucus. It can also cause pain in the lower section of the lungs. A constipation usually does not last more than 4 to 10 days.

Flu

The flu is sometimes confused with constipation because the symptoms are similar. The symptoms are accompanied by fever and usually make you feel worse than in constipation. Your symptoms are:
  • Fever. It is usually maintained although it can come and go. If the fever goes up the other symptoms are more severe.
  • Sweating and cooling
  • Headache
  • Dry cough, sore throat and watery eyes.
  • These symptoms usually notice more after the fever stops.
Muscle pain and pain in the back, arms and legs
  • Fatigue and general feeling of weakness and loss of appetite
  • Nasal congestion.
Flu symptoms usually do not include any symptoms related to the stomach or intestine. Bronchitis The symptoms of bronchitis usually appear after 3 to 4 days of a respiratory infection such as constipation or influenza. Symptoms include:
  • Cough. This is the first symptom of acute bronchitis. It will start with a dry cough without mucus and then start with these
  • Fever not very high
  • Feeling fatigue
  • Pain, weakness, burning sensation in the chest and that empowers with breathing and cough
  • Whistles and noises when breathing, especially when exercising
  • Hoarseness

A normal case of acute bronchitis lasts 2 to 3 weeks, although it can sometimes last a month or more. Chronic bronchitis is the result of long periods of inflammation that heal the bronchi. The cough that accompanies bronchitis is worse in the morning and when the weather is humid. People with chronic bronchitis often have fever and colds.

Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a consequence of a bacterium that is generated after a constipation or flu. Your symptoms are:
  •  Cough with snot
  •  Fever, which is not as common in the elderly as in children and adults
  •  Cooling and tremors
  •  Difficulty breathing
  •  Pain in the chest wall that gets worse when you breathe and cough
  •  Rapid heart rate
  •  Fatigue
  •   Nausea and vomiting
Pneumonia that is not the result of a bacterium includes symptoms such as coughing with mucus, limited breathing and fever. This type of pneumonia improves slowly and is usually not as severe as bacterial pneumonia

General Information about Malignant Mesothelioma

Malignant mesothelioma is a disease in which malignant (cancerous) cells form in the lining of the chest or abdomen. Malignant mesothelioma is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells are found in the pleura (the thin layer of tissue that lines the chest cavity and covers the lungs) or the peritoneum (the thin layer of tissue that lines the abdomen and covers most of the organs of the abdomen). Malignant mesothelioma can form in the heart or testicles, but this is not common Exposure to asbestos can influence the risk of malignant mesothelioma. Anything that increases the risk of getting a disease is called a risk factor. Having a risk factor does not mean you are going to have cancer; Having no risk factors does not mean you will not have cancer. Talk to your doctor if you think you may be at risk. Most people with malignant mesothelioma have worked or lived in places where they inhaled or swallowed asbestos. After exposure to asbestos, it usually takes a lon...

If You Have Malignant Mesothelioma

Cancer can start anywhere in the body. Malignant mesothelioma is cancer that begins in the linings of certain parts of the body. This cancer occurs more often in the lining of the chest or abdomen (belly). It occurs when cells in the lining grow out of control and outnumber normal cells. This makes it difficult for the body to function the way it should. Cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body. Cancer cells in the lining can sometimes travel to nearby organs and tissues and grow there. When cancer cells spread, what is known as a metastasis occurs. For doctors, the cancer cells at the new site are identical to those in the lining. Cancer is always named after the place where it started. Therefore, when mesothelioma in the chest spreads to the spine (or anywhere else), it is still called mesothelioma. It can only be called bone cancer if it has started from cells in the bones of the spine. Different types of mesothelioma     Pleural mesothelioma begi...

Mesothelioma, Treatments Are More Effective Thanks To Grape Seeds

In Italy it represents 0.4% of all malignancies diagnosed in men and 0.2% of those diagnosed in women. The study was born from the collaboration between ENEA, CNR and the "Federico II" University of Naples Mesothelioma is a tumor that arises from the cells that line the mesothelium. It is a fabric that covers the surface of the serous membranes which, in turn, line the inner wall of the chest, abdomen and space around the heart. Depending on the affected area, the mesothelium takes on different names. The main risk factor for this disease is exposure to asbestos.  This term indicates a family of minerals rather common in nature with a fibrous structure very resistant to heat. Its fibers, if inhaled, settle in the lungs and can damage the mesothelial cells causing, in some cases, pleural cancer. Other less common risk factors are exposure to zeolites with erionitis, radiation to the chest and abdomen, thorium injections (used in medicine until 1950).  According ...
